I won this wonderful lavender sachet from Dawn at The Feathered Nest. I have it tucked into my lingerie drawer. The scent is so wonderful. It's so beautiful that I hate to have it hidden away, but it makes me smile whenever I open the drawer.
I love the scent of lavender. I have a great bath milk that's a combo scent of vanilla and lavender. Mr OP gave me a few bottles of it for Christmas. He knows how much I love my "tubby time."
Warm baths really help when my fibro starts giving me fits, and this particular scent is supposed to help with sleep as well. We had a wonderful weekend, Flyboy and Little Bride to Be were here for supper Saturday night. I made a mini-Thanksgiving dinner. It was really good, but the best part is that there will be leftovers this week, which makes it easy on me.
Happy is Rudolph Day! For those of you who are new here, Rudolph Day is celebrated on the 25th of each month. It's a day to organize/plan for Christmas to make it less hectic when the time is really upon us. Or, you can just do something Christmas-y. I have to work, but you can be sure that I'll have Christmas music on from Pandora. I plan on doing a little baking tonight after supper. I have 2 new Christmas cookie recipes that I'd like to try. I also promised Mr. OP a "Poor Man's Cake" this week. The cake is an old family recipe from the depression. I'll share the recipe and photos later.
Has anyone ever heard of a Poor Man's Cake?

I have heard of poor mans cake, have not made it in years, lol. Happy Rudolph's day to you too! ~Diane
I get my heated blanket out when my fibro acts up. I never knew Rudolf Day was the 25th of every month..makes sense.
Hi Leann...I think I may have heard of Poor Man's Cake. It originated during the depression, right?
Haven't ever made it, though. Is it chocolate?
Hope you have a nice Rudolph Day!
Around here I've got to "undeck" the halls from Valentine's Day. Susan
Hi Leann, I think Rudolph Day makes sense, I just can't seem to remember it, or I don't want to be reminded of the holidays just yet :-). I also love the scent of lavender. My mom made a simple cake with jam and used to call it poor man's cake. Said it was from the Depression. xo
Thanks for reminding me that it is Rudolph Day. I have a couple little things that I can get done. Also, I am in need of at least 4 stocking stuffers this month. So I'll comb some of the Sunday ads and see what I can find on sale!
We are waiting for some yucky weather here in the valley tomorrow morning. I hope all us can avoid it!
Oh I love these sachets from Dawn! I ordered two of them, and she made them for me from pics that I sent! I love them!! Happy Rudolph day! I love to listen to christmas music year round.
Hugs,
Debbie
No, I've not heard of that cake...looking forward to it...low on sugar, flour, and eggless? It felt like Christmas today with all the snow.
You and I are lavender sachet twins from Dawn...I bought mine and you won yours, but they both smell amazing. I'm thinking of putting my out because I just read today that fleas, spiders, mosquitoes, etc., don't like lavender.
I love the scent of lavender. And lilac. I have found 2 new items for cookie trays. We make several for gifts and seems more of it is candy and chocolate anymore so I am trying to get back to some cookies. Love doing it but need to cut back on the chocloate stuff.
I didn't get to do anything for Rudy Day but did buy a few gifts on Sunday for Christmas.
I've heard of Poor Man's Pecan Pie. Made with oatmeal instead of pecans.
This sounds pretty good!!!
Hello Leann,
Thank you for visiting my blog. No I have not heard of this cake, but does
sound interesting. I also love lavender, a couple of years ago one of our daughters took us to a lavender farm, we loved it. Hugs...Lu
Le Ann,
