Well, it looks like we'll get a "glancing blow" (as the weather woman calls it) as the Nor'easter comes barreling up the coast. They started by saying that we would get all rain, now they are calling for snow 3-6 inches. Who knows what we'll end up with. I do know that it won't be as much as our friends in Boston are supposed to get.
And, when is this snow supposed to get here? Last report was during our rush hour trip home of course! I love it when it snows as long as I don't have to drive in it. I also worry about Mr OP and the kids driving in it too. My Mum called to see if we have groceries in. Hello! Doesn't she know who she's talking to? I've always got enough food, plus supplies on hand to bake and make soup!
While going through some of my Gram's things this week (I've had the storage box for a few years), I found the cute little heart shaped wooden create. How funny is it that Valentine's is a week away? I decided to give it a quick little makeover - first by painting it in a soft white then covering the ends with pink paper.
I also found some pieces of her costume jewelry. It makes me smile to remember her wearing some of the pieces to church. She always wore those screw or clip on type earrings every Sunday. She complained about them pinching her ears as she was struggling to get out of her girdle and control top panty hose:)
Gram's been gone for almost 13 years, but it seems like yesterday that she was giving me advice. Our Fireman and Flyboy were so lucky to have had her loving influence in their lives. They were 16 and 14 when she passed away.
Wishing you all a warm and cozy weekend!

Hmmm...the times of your snow arrival are as fuzzy as mine are. Hope that you get nothing more than a glancing blow. I hope that we get nothing more than that either. =D
Oh I know quite a lot about having grandmother's jewelry and all the various earrings and bangles and necklaces. My nana had pierced ears so why she put up with those screw earrings, and she did, I'll never know. Perhaps pierced ears went out of fashion. Did your grandmother also have some of those magnetic earrings? Button style with a strong magnet back to hold the earring on. They, at least, were a little more comfortable.
Your mother's concern about your pantry cracks me up. She just needed to know that all was well.
Best wishes for your getting home, and all your family, also. Hope it's just a glancing blow. :-)

And your mother's concern for your pantry, just goes to show... That mothers NEVER cease to think like "mothers." :-))))))))

We already have 4 inches on the ground here! Beautiful vintage jewelry from your Grandmother. Have you seen the gorgeous wedding bouquets people make from them? ~Diane
Hi Leann. We're supposed to get "whomped" with snow today. (Did I make up the word whomped?) I already put a pork roast, potatoe and carrots in the oven on low so it will cook long and slow all day.
Had to chuckle over your Gram story and her getting out of her girdle. Oh Lordy, my mom used to wear those contraptions with steel and my Gram, too. The pantry, off the kitchen, was the place where the girdles went on and off. Why, I have no idea. So funny to remember!
Well, stay warm and cozy. Susan p.s. No girldles allowed! ha ha ha
Hooray, it's a SNOWDAY today, so I have to some to make the rounds 'round Blogland this morning!!! Oh my gosh, though, Leann.. I'm hearing anywhere from 12 to 18" here, so I'm just going to get some cleaning done first; THEN, I'm going to pop a movie or two into the DVD player today.. And I'm going to RELAX, and I'm going to CROCHET! THAT is the plan, and I'm looking forward to it! Soup sounds good YOUR way; perfect for a day like this! LOVE your grandmother's heart box!.. Enjoy your weekend! ~tina
Mom's never stop being Moms. :) I remember how the clip on and screw on earrings pinched.
Enjoy your weekend and stay warm.
