I love holiday meals. They are a gift that keeps on giving. I usually don't each much at the actual meal. Getting it all to the table hot and ready is fine but when it's time for me to eat it just doesn't "wow" me. Everyone always says how wonderful it all tastes and I find myself thinking - "hunh?"
Later in the day, after everyone's gone home or off to visit other relatives it seems to taste better when I pick directly from the leftover containers in the fridge. The next day it seems to taste even better and then I make other meals (like the delicious turkey vegie soup that I made yesterday) from the left overs. I love to use leftover mashed potatoes, scallions and corn to make potato cakes. Add an egg and a little flour to bind it all together. Form patties and fry in a little bit of oil - the guys love them
Isn't this sweet baby doll a great leftover? I fell in love with her at a thrift/antique store on Wednesday and had to bring her home with me. I'm not sure that she's all that old, but I love her sweet face.
We're supposed to get a few inches of snow tomorrow - yeah! We've got nowhere to go, so it'll be nice to sit inside and watch it bathe the neighborhood. We've got another Christmas party on Sunday for Mr OP's family at my MIL's. Since she only lives 2 doors down we won't have to worry about the roads.
So tell me are you all loving your leftovers?

I froze the leftovers! Very stupid of me I must say because we've been looking for them ever since. Perhaps it's time to bring some out again. =D Your little dolly does have a sweet face. We're expecting snow overnight as well.
I usually do enjoy my leftovers better than the actual meal! It is snowing here, we are supposed to get 2 - 4 inches and then get much colder. I hate ice, I really do. xo
I think many times the meals made out of leftovers are better than the original - like soups and casseroles. :D Pretty doll! In my cleaning out here, I ran across a container of dolls I accumulated years ago. Need to contact daughters to see what they want for the Grands. I also have one that looks very old, but think it is a reproduction.
Having leftovers makes my day-I don't have to cook!
Happy New Year!
Yes, I did enjoy the leftovers. Like you by the time it was on the table and everyone was eating, I barely ate. Wonder if it could have been due to all the taste testing? LOL!
Lovely photos of your new/old doll. She does have the sweetest face and I love her heirloom dress. Here's wishing you a Happy New Year!
I'm with you on the leftovers. But this year there weren't any! Which I guess is good -- but not!
Oh Leann...Love the dolly. She's adorable and I would have bought her, too.
Oh yeah, I've enjoyed lots of leftovers. I love not having to cook when I find them in the fridgie!
Hope your new year is everything you want it to be and then some! Susan
Wishing you a very Happy New Year! Stay warm! xox
I love leftovers and usually plan for then when I can. Sending wishes for a very HAPPY New Year!
Sometimes it seems like the frig can't hold all the leftovers. It's such a blessing to have so much.
I hope this is a great year for you and your family!
Love the dolls and am wishing you a happy 2013!
